IF I’D NEVER PURCHASED MY FIRST DJ CONTROLLER, I WOULDN’T BE HERE.

There was a time when becoming a DJ felt completely out of reach.

I’ve loved music for as long as I can remember. I spent years producing tracks, creating albums, and learning everything I could about music. But there was one problem. I didn’t own any DJ equipment.

I would watch other DJs perform and dream about being on stage one day, but dreams don’t become reality on their own.

One day I made a decision that scared me. I purchased my first DJ controller.

To a lot of people, that might not sound like a big deal. But at the time, it was. It was one of the largest purchases I had ever made for myself. I didn’t know if it would work out. I didn’t know if I’d ever perform for a crowd. All I knew was that if I was serious about this dream, I needed to invest in myself.

That single decision changed everything. Suddenly I could practice every day.

I could spend hours learning transitions, building sets, understanding crowd energy, and developing the skills I’d need to perform in front of people.

The equipment didn’t make me a DJ. The commitment did. Looking back now, the money wasn’t the real risk. The real risk would have been doing nothing. Most people wait until the timing is perfect. They wait until they have more money.

More confidence. More certainty. But those things rarely come before action. They come because of action.

Every meaningful step I’ve taken in my life has started with a decision that felt uncomfortable at the time.

So here’s my question:
What are you avoiding because it feels uncomfortable?

Because the life you want is usually hiding on the other side of the decision you’re afraid to make. If I had never purchased that first DJ controller, I wouldn’t be performing today. I wouldn’t be releasing music as Drew SallyAnd I definitely wouldn’t be building the future I’m working toward now. Sometimes the smallest decision ends up changing the entire direction of your life.
